ASSOCIATION 6 CONVENTION REGISTRATION DEADLINE
As previously communicated to all, the deadline for registering for the upcoming Association 6 Convention (hosted by ONT 14) is July 1st. This date was chosen in cooperation with our host hotel, the Courtyard Marriott, as they need to release the block of rooms we had held for the convention. We will continue to accept convention registrations up to and including Friday, July 17th but we cannot guarantee that you will be able to register for a room at the Courtyard Marriott or receive the previously offered discounted price which included a complete full featured, hot breakfast.
We are very pleased that registrations for the upcoming Convention have exceeded last year's totals. We are looking forward to a feature packed, fun filled Convention and hope that more of our brother and sister Red Knights will be able to join us.
See you all in a few short weeks!
Fraternally,
Your 2009 Association 6 Convention Committee.

CONSTITUTION & BY-LAW AND ELECTIONS NOTICE
To All Red Knights,
The 2009 Association 6 Convention is quickly approaching.
As you can see by the following sections of our Constitution and By-laws, there are three Executive positions up for election in 2009. Also, the Annual Meeting, which be held on Saturday, July 18th at 0900, is the only time we can make changes to these documents.
Ontario 14 has put in a great amount of effort to see that we will be entertained for the convention, so if you are interested in running for any of the position listed or have changes to the Constitution and By-laws, or just want to have some great fun, be sure to be at the convention July 17th, 18th and 19th. Information is available on our Website.
Section 1-7;
The Constitution can only be changed by a 2/3 vote of voting members present at an Annual Meeting. Thirty (30) days advance notice shall be given to all member chapters prior to the meeting.
Section 2-3;

Section 2-4;
Nominations for Officers shall be presented by the Nomination Committee a month prior to the Annual Meeting. Nominations will be taken from the floor at the Annual Meeting. Voting for Officers shall be by secret ballot if more than two members are running for one office. After the election is completed, all ballots will be destroyed.
Section 4-5;
The Constitution of Association 6, Ontario can only be changed by a 2/3 majority of voting members present at an Annual Meeting given thirty (30) days prior notice. The By-Laws can be changed by a majority vote at any regular meeting given thirty (30) days prior notice. The Provincial Executive Board must unanimously approve or reject all changes prior to being presented to the Membership. ASSOCIATION 6 CONVENTION - Ottawa, hosted by ONT 9 (18/20 July, 2008)
Our 2nd Annual Association 6 Convention was a rousing success. Many thanks to ONT 9 Chapter President, Dennis Gobey and all of his Chapter member volunteers who pulled together a very enjoyable convention. There were a total of 57 Red Knights in attendance this year, which is a healthy increase from our inaugural convention last year in Welland. It would appear that the word is starting to get out to all Chapter members. I would encourage all of those who did attend to continue to spread the word so that we can increase the attendance at all future conventions. If you've never yet made it out to one of our conventions, you're truly missing a fun time.
All of the activities which were planned for this year's convention were outstanding. The "Gatineau Hills" riding tour which I personally participated in was great. The scenery during the ride as well as the one stop we made to take in the vista was breathtaking. I hope the pictures we took do it some justice. Those that went along on the "Merrickville Tour" also had a great time by all reports, while touring the town and its shops.
ONT 9's also provided some very enjoyable meals during the convention. There was plenty for all. No one walked away hungry, that's for sure!
Of course the best thing of all with our Association 6 Conventions is the opportunity to see good friends once again, and to meet new friends.
If you have not as of yet made it out to one of our annual conventions, you are truly missing out on a good time. Please join us in Hamilton next year, and see what it's all about.
One again, many thanks to ONT 9 (Ottawa) for hosting this year's convention. It was a rousing success!

ASSOCIATION 6 WEB PAGE - Launch of our new site
It's taken a little while to get this all sorted out, between registering for our new dot-com address and signing up with our new web server; but I'm happy to report that we now have a new home for our Association 6 web page. We can now be found at www.rkmcassociation6.com Please be sure to update your Favourites list on your web browser and visit the page often.
For Chapters across the province who do not have their own web page, please feel free to call this one your own and forward any info to me that you'd like to list so that your members can readily view it.

ASSOCIATION 6 CONVENTION - Welland, hosted by ONT 12 (NIAGARA)
Our Association's first annual Convention was held the weekend of 20-22 July, 2007 and was a rousing success. There were a total of 35 delegates from across the province who attended. Wylie Welsh (President - ONT 12) and his Convention Committee did an outstanding job of organizing what was only a faint dream last winter. Those of us who will be hosting future conventions have been "thrown the gauntlet" as ONT 12 has set the bar quite high. It will be a challenge to meet, never mind exceed what they accomplished this past weekend.
Friday Evening - The weekend started with our arrival at the host hotel, the Best Western Hotel where those arriving were promptly handed our grab bag of goodies and an itinerary of the activities planned for the weekend. This was followed by about a 20 minute ride to Fort Erie Station # 3 who hosted the opening dinner. We then returned to the Best Western Hotel for a "meet & greet" in the hospitality room set up by ONT 12. A very enjoyable evening ensued while chatting with the delegates from across the province.
Saturday - After a leisurely breakfast, everyone
headed to the General Meeting which promptly started at 10:00 hrs under the
direction of Association 6 President, Henry Heideman. During the meeting a
number of issues were discussed and important decisions made regarding
Association 6. As our President, Henry Heideman is stepping down from his
position as Association 6 President in order to run for the newly created
position of Eastern Canada Regional Director, elections were held for the
position of Association 6 President. Jim Friend (President ONT 14) was duly
elected as Association 6 President for a term of two years, and Dan Merlin was
elected as Vice-President, Jim's previous position on the Association Executive.
Henry will be nominated for the position of Eastern Canada Regional Director at
the upcoming International Convention. At the conclusion of the General Meeting,
we hopped on our bikes and headed to Port Colborne Fire HQ for a BBQ. Following
lunch we headed out on a approximate 200 km tour of the Niagara Peninsula.
During the ride we had the opportunity to stop by the 9/11 Memorial Walk which
honours the Canadians who were killed in the Twin Towers terrorist attack. "9/11
Lest We Never Forget". We then headed to our dinner destination which was hosted
by ONT 12 members, Rick "Catfish" and Lorreta Bell at their
FREEDOM TRAIL B&B. There we enjoyed a
pig roast and various other culinary delights. There was more than enough to
feed the hungry crowd! After some live entertainment by a singer/guitarist from
ONT 12 (sorry can't recall his name), numerous door prizes were handed out to
everyone there. Everyone went home with at least one item. We then headed back
to the Best Western Hotel for a few libations and friendly banter with our
fellow delegates and new friends.
Sunday - At 09:00 hrs on Sunday morning we once again gathered for an
opportunity to have a quick breakfast (sweets and coffee) and a chance to say
our farewells to everyone.
It goes without saying that everyone had a fabulous weekend. The weather was phenomenal and the organization was bar none.
Well done ONT 12 !!!
We all are looking forward to next year's Association 6 Convention in Ottawa, hosted by ONT 9.
